When contemplating a quick takeaway lunch in the city, the options can be fairly uninspiring. Fast food, cold pies, bland California rolls and soggy pre-made sandwiches are certainly quick and affordable, but they’re nowhere near as deliciously exciting as Panzerotti.
Originating from central and southern Italy, these delicious golden pockets are similar to a pasty or a calzone. Soft, golden pastry, filled with traditional Italian ingredients like mozzarella cheese, cured meats, tomato and herbs, Panzerotti di Cerignola provides a fantastic array of flavour combinations to satisfy all tastes. There’s even some to satisfy your sweet tooth – nutella, sweet ricotta and banana and cinnamon to name a few.
Given the popularity of Italian cuisine in Melbourne, I’m surprised panzerotti are so new to our city. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before Melbournians are lining up along Flinders Lane for a taste.
If you’re looking to change up your usual lunchtime fare, I recommend you give Panzerotti di Cerignola a try – fast, affordable and absolutely delicious.
